What is a Hybrid?

A Hybrid model comprises of two engines: one petrol, one electric, working in tandem. Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive forms the perfect partnership, switching between petrol or electric power and combining both for maximum efficiency while minimising fuel consumption and helping to improve air quality. When the petrol engine is running Toyota's hybrid cars emit anything from 70g of CO2 per km, which is an amazingly low statistic for a family car.

Benefits of owning a Hybrid

Behind the wheel of our hybrid cars you can be assured of some of the lowest CO2 emissions in their classes, in fact, when driving in EV-mode (Electric Vehicle mode), it can go from 0-50 km/h without producing any emissions whatsoever – you'd find more CO2 in a spent balloon. Unlike diesel cars, Hybrids also produce very low levels of harmful nitrogen oxides.

With a Hybrid there is no need to worry about how far you're travelling, just fill up with petrol like any conventional car. When the battery begins to run low, excess power from the engine charges it back up again. No energy is wasted, whenever you apply the brake or whilst cruising energy is recycled to recharge the battery.

With Hybrid there's double the power which comes from the electric and petrol engine. They can work in tandem to produce a serene power and responsive torque, which is on tap for when you need it. The power button can be used for that extra kick - for instance when you're overtaking - simply press it and enjoy an immediate reply.

Toyota Hybrid's adapt to their surroundings; Uphill, both engines power the vehicle to deliver maximum performance. Deceleration and Braking: the hybrid system reuses kinetic power to charge the battery. Overtaking; each engine power the car to provide optimum performance. Standstill; Both engines are automatically turned off so no energy is lost when stationary.
