Nissan LEAF Powers East Cliff Easter Quarter Marathon

Westover Nissan joined a brave group of 500 runners to take on the East Cliff Quarter Marathon on Easter Saturday.

The all-electric, zero-emissions car helped power the runners around the 10 kilometre course, showing them the way from start to finish. The quarter marathon is organised every year by Bournemouth's East Cliff Rotary Club.

The Westover Nissan team also supplied a rear car, which followed the last runners making sure everyone returned home safe and sound.

The run is certified by UK Athletics and takes runners along Boscombe Promenade to Hengistbury Head and returns via the cliff top, finishing just east of Boscombe Pier. It's a stunning route, showcasing some of the best of Bournemouth's scenery.

"The LEAF was the ideal car for the quarter marathon," says Sallyann Tanner, Westover's electric vehicle expert. "It allowed the front runners to keep quite close to the car without fear of breathing in any unpleasant fumes - the LEAF is completely electric and therefore emissions free, so very appropriate for the stunning countryside too!

"We were delighted to help the Rotary with their annual event - what a great way to prepare for an Easter Sunday lunch and a chocolate egg or two! It was wonderful to see so many people out enjoying the fresh air despite the dreary weather."
