Jo Clark, Westover's New Payroll Manager, Completes London Marathon

Jo Clark has joined Westover as Group Payroll Manager. She has the all-important job of making sure all 750 employees are paid accurately and on time. No small responsibility but with more than ten years’ experience of payroll, Jo’s the ideal person for the job.

“I’d been in my last position for over five years and although it was a great job which I really enjoyed, it was time for a new challenge,” says Jo. “My role with Westover is more specialised and I was attracted by the opportunity to get involved in developing a smoother, smarter payment process. It was definitely the right decision – I’m loving my new role, as well as the rewards and personal challenges it brings.”

Jo, who grew up in Broadstone and attended local schools, recently completed the London Marathon in aid of the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT), a charity which supports young people suffering from retinoblastoma, a rare form of cancer that rapidly develops from immature retina cells. The disease is diagnosed in around 40-50 children each year and is particularly prevalent in the under-fives.

Jo’s niece was diagnosed at 14 weeks and she has since had an eye removed and experienced a gruelling course of chemotherapy. Despite that, Jo says her niece is “… the most happy, kind, loving, beautiful little diva you will meet! Her strength and constant smile is what encouraged me to take on the challenge.”

Of the marathon, Jo adds: “It took me just over eight and a half hours to reach the finish line but it was never about the time - it was simply about completing the course. It was definitely an emotional rollercoaster throughout, particularly when I saw my partner and daughter at the 24-mile mark.”

Paul Dillon, Westover Group’s Managing Director, finishes: “Hats off to Jo! Anyone that runs the London Marathon deserves high praise as far as I’m concerned but to do so for such an amazing charity – and one so personal – is even more commendable. Everyone here is impressed by, and proud of, her efforts.

“Jo settled in really quickly to her new position. It’s one that brings lots of responsibility but she’s taken it all in her stride and rapidly got on with the job of bringing our payroll processes in line with the most advanced systems available.”
