Growth and Investment Brings New Appointments to Operational Board

The Westover Group has expanded its senior management team, securing a broader range of business disciplines and skill sets at the heart of the company.

Following a detailed review of sales and after-sales reward structures over the last 18 months, the Group has also changed salary structures for its 100-strong vehicle sales team, with basic salaries for sales executives now starting at £20,000 per annum.

The moves come following a period of growth and consolidation which has seen Westover continue to invest in both infrastructure and people across Dorset and Wiltshire.

Two new brand managers have been appointed to the existing team. Having delivered significant sales performance for over 20 years with the Group, Paul Hughes has been promoted to Brand Manager for Westover’s Nissan operations. Steve Johnson moves to become Westover Toyota’s Brand Manager following more than 17 years consistent delivery with the brand.

There have also been five additions to the Group’s operational board. Between them the seven-strong operational team have worked with the Westover Group for a total of more than 140 years. They bring significant experience from different areas of the business into a more formal management setting, proactively supporting their colleagues at every level.

Mat Carrington, Andy Grant, David Butler, Pete Walker and Mark Whittam will now work alongside existing Operational Board Directors, Andy Neill and Simon Smith, who took up their positions back in 2015.

Mat Carrington and Andy Grant both pick up Group Sales Operations Director positions within the Group. Complementing his existing role as Brand Manager for Renault, FCA and Hyundai, Mat takes on additional responsibility as Group Sales Operations Director for Westover’s core brands.

Andy joins the operational board as Westover Jaguar Land Rover’s Group Sales Operations Director following a number of years as JLR Brand Manager, a position he retains.

David Butler becomes Group Operations Director for Finance, Insurance, and Retail Training. Additionally, as Group Compliance Officer Dave will also oversee regulatory and brand compliance.

Pete Walker joins the operational team as Group Operations Director for Service, Parts and Quality having worked as Head of Group After-Sales and Quality since 2013.

Embodying a new focus on the Group’s marketing activities, Mark Whittam moves from his position as Head of Marketing to Group Operations Director for Marketing. Working across all marketing disciplines for Westover’s 15 brands, Mark now manages a team of six experienced marketing executives delivering proactive brand-specific and Group-wide campaigns from a new marketing base created at Wallisdown Road.

Andy Neill steps up from his operational board role to Westover’s main board, taking on the job of Group Finance Director. Keith Martin oversees the finance director role across Westover Holdings and all its associated companies.

Our front-of-house teams are critical to our success and the tiered approach to salary and reward we launched two years ago is keeping us ahead of the market in this area – we have some really talented people in our teams delivering a fantastic quality service. Our recent pay structure changes have lifted basic salaries for our sales executives and uncapped on-target earnings (OTE) are delivering significant quality improvements across our retail sales teams Group-wide.

“We are continuing to pursue the facilities investment programme which has seen our retail operations develop significantly over the last 20 years. Our Jaguar Land Rover redevelopment in Christchurch is well under way; when completed it will provide a 16-bay valet and preparation facility, a 29-bay state of the art workshop, a new car showroom for 20 Jaguar Land Rover models, and space for over 100 approved used Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles.

“Additionally, having completed a new workshop at Wallisdown Nissan, we are now extending the existing showroom into the old workshop space to deploy the very latest corporate identity which will transform the sales and after sales experience for our customers.

“Last but not least, we have been granted planning permission for a new Land Rover facility in Salisbury and our Toyota showroom in Bournemouth is adopting the very latest retail concept, due for completion in mid-February.”
