This year’s Dorset County Show, which took place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September, saw the latest stunning cars from Westover Toyota and Lexus Poole on display. Visitors had the chance to sit in vehicles from across both ranges - including stars of the show, the new-for-summer-2017 Toyota C-HR (a unique hybrid crossover) and the Lexus LC (a luxury sports coupe).
“Some of the cars we took to the Dorset Show are suitable for rural and agricultural use; others are definitely not!” says Adrian Chapman, General Sales Manager at Lexus Poole (part of the Westover Group). “The Lexus LC was the star of the show on the Lexus stand and it really is an amazing looking car. It has a real presence, it's powerful and luxurious but it’s definitely not recommended for rough roads. It’s a stunning sports coupe with luxury touches in spades!”
Meanwhile, Steve Johnson, General Sales Manager at Westover Toyota, took the full range of current Toyotas, so it was a great opportunity to see what’s available. “The C-HR is our latest addition and it’s proving really popular in Dorset already, even thought it was only launched at the beginning of the year. Our customers are telling us they were ready for something new in the crossover sector and the C-HR is definitely that!
“Anyone looking for some off road power can opt for the Toyota Hilux or Land Cruiser and conquer any terrain. The Hilux was branded the car “even Clarkson couldn’t kill” by Top Gear and it’s also the one that Clarkson and May chose to take them to the North Pole, so we’re pretty confident it can handle anything Dorset can throw at it!
“We welcomed plenty of visitors to our stands over the weekend - and provided some shelter from the rain on Sunday! It was a really relaxed atmosphere, so a great chance to have a chat and sit in some of the cars."
Lexus Poole showcased the full array of hybrid vehicles from Lexus but centre stage was the LC 500, which comes with either a 3.5 litre multi-stage hybrid or a 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine. One boasts the world’s first 10 speed, multi-stage hybrid transmission and can be driven solely on its battery powered, zero-emissions electric motor; the other can reach 60mph from standing in under 4.5 seconds.
Next door at Toyota, was the C-HR - a sleek hatchback with a premium finish and unique in the crossover sector because it’s the only model in its class to offer a smooth and efficient hybrid powertrain. There are four capable engines to choose from (three 1.2 litre petrol turbos with manual or automatic transmissions and front- or four-wheel drive; and a 1.8 litre auto front wheel drive hybrid).
There’s currently an unbeatable September only ‘333’ offer on all new Lexus cars (except LS and LC models) purchased from Lexus Poole. The showroom will contribute a generous £3,000 towards the deposit on a new car, as well as offering free servicing and breakdown assistance for three years.
The Dorset County Show took place at Dorchester Show Ground near Kingston Maurward. As well as livestock displays and show jumping, visitors were able to see falconry exhibitions, ferret and terrier racing, sheep shearing and vintage tractors. There was a shopping avenue, as well as craft and farm produce marquees, a funfair, live entertainment and a range of food and drink outlets.
