Westover Renault has had a strong first half of the year, as has Renault UK. Westover stormed ahead of Renault’s national picture though, recording a 27.8 per cent increase in new car sales from January to June whilst Renault’s increase stood at 14.9 per cent.
Look at the car market as a whole and market growth stands at seven per cent according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), showing the runaway success the Renault brand has enjoyed in the last six months.
Sales of the Renault Zoe – Renault's all-electric super-mini – raced ahead at Westover Renault, showing a massive 160 per cent increase when compared to the same six month period last year.
Sister brand, Westover Dacia (Renault's value vehicle brand), continues to go from strength to strength too. After an incredibly strong launch year in 2014 – which saw Westover Dacia sales exceed all expectations – Westover has seen another huge hike in popularity for the Duster, Logan and Sandero, with an eight per cent increase year on year. Westover Dacia was also proud to supply the 50,000th Dacia sold in the UK – a significant milestone for the new entrant to the UK car market.
“The renewed success of the Renault brand started three years ago with the launch of the all new Clio designed by Laurens van den Acker," says Westover Renault and Dacia Brand Manager, Chris Swain. “That design influence was enormously successful and it has been carried on in the new Captur and Twingo. Customers are won over by the appealing styling, supported by a peace-of-mind four year warranty.
“There's no doubt that the model range is incredibly strong at the moment. Renault have got it right and local people have been quick to catch on to the winning combination that's on offer," finishes Chris.
The Westover Renault showroom in Poole has recently been refitted, delivering an 'Apple Store' style experience, complete with iPad bar.
The Renault Group, which comprises Renault cars, vans and Dacia, has experienced an unprecedented period of ahead-of-the-market growth over the last two years. This growth has continued into 2015 with 62,476 Renault Group vehicles being sold in the first six months of the year for a market share of 4.0 per cent – up 15.2 per cent, almost double the total market growth rate of 8.3 per cent.
Commenting on the results, Ken Ramirez, Renault UK Managing Director, said: “The extraordinary Renault Group growth has been fuelled by customer demand for our stunning new car and van models, supported by our dealer network's commitment to customer satisfaction. We are on track with a showroom-full of already-successful products, including Clio, Captur, ZOE, Twingo, Trafic and from this summer the All-New Renault Kadjar crossover, which will further boost the brand appeal, entering into an important segment of the market."
