Westover Nissan got behind the organisers, runners and supporters of the 2017 Salisbury 10 Mile Road Race. The event is the brainchild of the City of Salisbury Athletics and Running Club.
The Salisbury showroom - based in Brunel Road on Churchfields Industrial Estate - has supported the road run previously and was pleased to be back on board for the 2017 race. As well as lending a voice of encouragement on the sidelines, the team from Westover Nissan provided a lead car to guide runners around the course, showing them the way along the beautiful Wiltshire lanes of the Woodford Valley that make up the 10 mile route.
The race took place on Sunday 9th April, starting at the athletics track at Five Rivers Leisure Centre.
The lead car provided by Westover was a 'Pearl Storm White' Nissan LEAF Tekna 30KW - a fully electric, zero emissions car, the perfect choice for protecting health-conscious runners and the Wiltshire countryside. There was also a brand new 'Energy Orange' coloured Nissan Micra Tekna DCi positioned at the start and finish line to see the runners off and then welcome them home.
"Westover Nissan has once again generously donated to the race funds for our annual 10 mile road run," says Stuart Holloway, Race Director. "It's a huge help to us because the Club exists solely on the money it raises from memberships and events. We play a key role in encouraging athletes of all ages, abilities and disciplines to participate in athletics, whether that's for fun or at a national or international level - but to do so effectively, we need to generate significant funds.
"Thanks to the events we run and the tremendous support we receive, we are able to offer a mix of coaching, mentoring and competitions to suit all our members, whatever their personal goals."
The Athletics and Running Club has in excess of 300 members. The 10 Mile Road Race sold out in record time this year and 850 runners took part.
