Westover Nissan Installs Salisbury's First Charging Point for Electric Vehicles

Salisbury’s first electric car charging point has been installed by Westover Nissan at its Brunel Road showroom. The charging point allows drivers of the UK’s first fully electric vehicle, the Nissan Leaf, to charge their car for free during the dealership’s opening hours.
Westover Nissan, based on the city’s Churchfields Industrial Estate, offers a perfect top-up location for anyone wanting to give their electric vehicle a boost.
Sallyann Tanner, Electric Vehicle Relationship Manager at Westover Nissan said: “We’re delighted to bring the first electric charging point to Salisbury and we hope many other local organisations will follow in our footsteps.
“The Leaf is capable of travelling 109 miles on a single charge (that’s comfortably from Salisbury to Exeter, where there’s another complimentary charge point) but with the network of charging points growing rapidly, electric car drivers have more and more flexibility. Supermarkets, councils and even some Little Chef branches are quickly catching on to the need to install charging points – all great news for zero emissions drivers.
“The Leaf is the first car of its kind in the UK and it’s proving popular among those who need to drive a family-sized car, don’t want to economise on space or performance, but want to drastically cut fuel costs and do their bit for the environment.”
Those critics who believe electric cars to be small and slow will find the Leaf comes with all the speed, comforts and advanced safety features of other more conventional high-end, small family cars, like the Ford Focus or the VW Golf. On board there’s climate control, a 7” touch screen satellite navigation system (which displays charging points), a rear view parking camera, internet connectivity and a unique Telematics system which allows remote communication with the vehicle via the driver’s iPhone (and even lets the car notify you when it’s fully charged).
