Westover Renault Welcomes New Electric Van Grant

6 February 2012

Westover Renault has welcomed the launch of the Plug-In Van Grant which means that van buyers can benefit from a 20 per cent grant - giving them up to £8,000 off the cost of an electric van.

The consumer grant is an extension of the Plug-In Car Grant which offers 25% - up to £5,000 – to motorists buying a new plug-in car. Funding has been secured for the grant until 2015.

The Plug-In Van Grant makes the purchase price a Renault Kangoo EV – the first electric van to reach our shores – similar to that of the popular Diesel Kangoo van. However, the electric version brings reduced running costs and excellent tax breaks for those purchasing it as a commercial vehicle.

Brand manager, Chris Swain said: “Customers buying electric cars have been able to take advantage of the grant for a year already.  It’s been a popular scheme and we are delighted that van buyers also now have an added financial incentive to go electric. Like private customers, small businesses and fleet buyers are increasingly looking to reduce running costs – on-going overheads now have a major impact on the decision making process. Electric vehicles are spearheading a new revolution in low carbon, economical motoring and offer an attractive choice for businesses. And, of course, electric vehicle drivers will also be able to play their part in helping to improve local air quality in cities, reducing carbon emissions.”

A stylish and practical workhorse, the Kangoo EV has a spacious boot and is available in a variety of configurations. It is packed with safety features so you can go about your business with the reassurance that you are in safe hands and it offers exceptional road-handling. The van achieves around 100 miles on a single charge.

As with all Renault’s electric vehicles, the Kangoo EV battery can be charged via a household mains supply or at one of many public charging stations located across the UK.

Alongside the Kangoo EV, Renault’s commitment to making cars simpler, more comfortable, more technologically advanced, and kinder to the environment have seen it developing a family of electric cars that are accessible to everybody.

Two more vehicles will join Renault’s electric line up in the first half of the year - the Fluence ZE (which can achieve around 100 miles between charges) and the Renault Twizy, a unique about-town electric vehicle designed to comfortably seat two adults with a range of around 60 miles per charge. The Clio-sized Renault Zoe will follow in the autumn.
