Make an informed decision.
Everyone's talking about winter tyres - I've even seen adverts this week on the TV. We never used to change our tyres in this country so should we be thinking about them now - we all know that in some countries it's the law - when winter arrives you have the tyres on your car changed at your local garage. Do we need to consider winter tyres?
The outside air temperature is crucial to the performance of your tyres. At 7 C and below, the softer compound and tread design of winter tyres gives you significantly better grip and braking performance than regular tyres.
It's also a common misconception that winter tyres are only for snow and ice, drivers benefit from using winter tyres anytime the temperature is below 7 C in any conditions wet or dry. Did you know that last year we had 147 days when winter tyres would have been the safer choice? Source Met Office/Tyre Safe.
Demand for winter tyres was unprecedented last year so if your thinking of changing yours act today to ensure you're prepared before the temperature dips.
A lot of our customers appreciate our free winter health check on their car if you'd like this simply give me a call or pop in - the kettle's always on!
Till next month may I wish you many miles of safe motoring.
