Westover Land Rover Unveils New Range Rover Evoque
12 September 2011
The award-winning new Range Rover Evoque has made its debut appearance in Dorset and Wiltshire, courtesy of Westover Land Rover. Westover - the region’s leading motoring group - hosted a VIP evening and an Open Weekend at both its Salisbury and Christchurch dealerships to celebrate the arrival of the latest addition to Land Rover’s legendary line-up.
The VIP events, which were attended by invited guests (including people who had placed pre-release orders and existing Westover Land Rover customers), saw about 150 Land Rover enthusiasts flock to the showrooms to be amongst the first in Dorset and Wiltshire to see the Range Rover Evoque ‘in the flesh’. Both the Coupe and 5-Door models were on display, along with new Special Edition models from both the Land Rover and Range Rover ranges.
“After all the build-up and excitement surrounding its launch, it was great to finally be able to show the Range Rover Evoque to local people,” says Paul Dillon, Westover Group Operations Director. “The number of people who came into our showrooms over the weekend was simply unbelievable. Our sales teams didn’t stop all weekend and we were particularly pleased to welcome a mix of existing customers and people new to the Land Rover brand.
“The feedback so far has been universally positive - we’ve handled more enquiries and taken more pre-orders than for any other new vehicle we’ve launched. Most people simply can’t wait to get behind the wheel and take a test drive!”
At Westover’s Christchurch showroom on Barrack Road guests were treated to a cocktail party, complete with white bar and white seating, which complemented the white Evoques on display. Canapés were provided by local pub, The King John at Tollard Royal, and the showroom’s audio system was provided by Dawsons of Westbourne.
Guests who attended the VIP unveiling at Westover Land Rover in Salisbury found an additional treat waiting for them, with seafood cooked to order by a professional chef from catering company, Red Herring. A temporary ‘open kitchen’ was created in the showroom, complete with gas burners and woks. Visitors were entertained by West Country barbershop quartet, the 4getmenots.
The Range Rover Evoque has been named the Best Compact SUV, as well as Car of the Year, by Auto Express (Britain’s biggest-selling motoring magazine) even before its official UK launch. It drew high praise from the judges, being lauded for its mould-breaking styling and driving dynamics, as well as for its pricing.
With a choice of three engines, two body styles, three design themes and a wide range of options and accessories, the new Range Rover Evoque offers customers significant choice across a range of price points. The entry-level eD4 Pure 5-Door Range Rover Evoque starts at £27,955 and the top-of-the-range Si4 6 Speed automatic Dynamic Coupe with LUX pack is available for £44,320. Offered in both 5-door and coupe forms, more than 18,000 advance orders have already been received by Land Rover.
The Range Rover Evoque achieves urban mpg figures of 23.7 (11.9)–47.9 (5.9), extra urban rates of 40.9 (6.9)–62.8 (4.5) and a combined mpg of 32.5 (8.7)–57.6 (4.9). Its CO2 emissions are 199–129 G/KM.
