Bournemouth Motor Show a Roaring Success
Bournemouth’s inaugural Motor Show proved a big hit, with around 7, 500 car enthusiasts visiting over the weekend – many just to look at vehicles past and present; others to buy a new model from the enormous line-up on display.
The face of Wallisdown Recreation Ground changed in a matter of hours, metamorphosing from sports field and playground into a petrol head’s paradise. The Westover Group alone shipped in seven hospitality units, two marquees, two vehicle ramps and an inflatable pagoda in honour of the occasion.
Westover – the region’s leading motoring group – reported that nearly 500 people left their contact details with Westover staff, having expressed an interest in one of many models on the Group’s stands.
Additionally, more than 15 visitors went straight from the show ground to a Westover showroom in order to test drive a car that had particularly sparked their interest and the Group sold eight cars over the course of the weekend to show visitors.
Particularly popular were Renault’s two convertible models, the Wind Roadster and the Megane Couple Cabriolet, along with Nissan’s High Performance trio – the GT-R, 370Z and 370 Roadster. Prestige vehicles from Westover Jaguar, Lexus, Sports Cars and Land Rover were also widely admired, with much interest in Jaguar’s XK and the Lotus Evora. Enquiries also flooded in about Land Rover’s Evoque, due to be unleashed on the UK’s roads in September. Meanwhile, face-painting and complimentary ice-creams for children were real crowd-pleasers over on the Westover Nissan stand.
Westover displayed nearly 100 vehicles, showcasing a whole host of models from across its 13 different manufacturer ranges. Joining the legions of super-minis, family cars, SUVs, 4x4s and prestige vehicles were three ‘celebrity’ cars - Top Gear’s Polar Expedition Toyota Hilux (as driven by Jeremy Clarkson), a Toyota Le Mans racing car and Skoda’s rally car.
Westover’s Fiat, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Kia, Nissan, Peugeot, Renault, Skoda, Sports Cars and Toyota showrooms were all represented, as was the Group’s Bodycare Centre which offers repair facilities for all makes and models of vehicles.
