U-Drive on Track to Build Off-Road Fleet - With Help From Westover Toyota
Westover Toyota has delivered an additional eight Toyota Hilux 4x4s to vehicle hire company, U-Drive, at its Bournemouth Airport HQ. The latest consignment brings the number of vehicles supplied by Westover’s Wallisdown Road showroom over the last year to 38 – and the total number of vehicles held in U-Drive’s local fleet to a whopping 1400, including everything from small city cars to 7.5 ton lorries.The latest delivery from Westover Toyota consists of seven silver and one black 2.5 litre Hilux off-roaders, all double cab, 2.5 litre diesel (144 PS) engines and manual transmission. Each is capable of tackling the toughest terrain but also offers a comfortable on-road ride, thanks to standard fit air conditioning, an under-stressed engine and a high seating position.
“Toyota is a popular brand with fleet managers and vehicle rental companies because the cars hold their value well, generating strong residuals on the back of low maintenance costs,” says Rob Beldham, Westover Toyota’s Business Centre Manager. “Factor in some of the strongest deals on the market at the moment and Toyota has a really appealing proposition for corporate customers.”
Mark Hamblin, Fleet Purchasing and Sales Manager at U-Drive adds: “The Hilux is a true multi-purpose vehicle with a truck-load of power packed under the bonnet. Its flexibility means it meets the needs of a variety of our customers - whether they’re looking for some short-term towing muscle or are attracted by its off-road credentials.
“We usually only run vehicles for between six months and three years, so residual values are more important to us than purchase prices. Over and above everything though, we listen to what our customers are telling us. They often ask for specific vehicles and we try to meet their requests whenever possible. Our fleet reflects their demands, so we have a large number of Toyota’s Aygo, Verso and Hilux models on our books.”
