Local Lad Wins West Hants Tennis Club Membership for his Family

Bournemouth boy Lewis Bladon triumphed at the Westover Group Motor Showcase – held in the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) last month – when he beat 125 other entrants of all ages in a hand-eye coordination challenge. His victory has been rewarded with a year-long complimentary membership of Bournemouth's prestigious tennis and leisure club, West Hants.

Lewis and his dad, Paul Bladon, visited the Club to receive their prize from Westover Director, Paul Collins, and West Hants Chief Executive, Peter Elviss.

“We set up a hand-eye coordination activity - in which we challenged people to see how quickly they could throw five bean bags through a small aperture more than six feet away," says Peter Elviss. “Lewis managed to do it in just 3.9 seconds, beating the next nearest contestant by almost five seconds. It was a pretty impressive time but I have since learnt he's a keen golfer and cricketer, so clearly he's been honing his skills on the courses and pitches of Dorset!

“We look forward to seeing Lewis and his family around the Club over the next year and hope he puts his skills to the test again, this time on the tennis court!"

Lewis, aged 10, who visited the Motor Showcase with his Nanna, brother and cousins, attends Bishop Aldhelm's Primary School. Having initially achieved a time of 4.5 seconds, he returned to the Motor Showcase in the afternoon, logging his winning time on his second go.

With his eye already on the ball, Lewis is keen to join a Saturday morning tennis lesson at West Hants and is also hoping for a regular swim in the Club's 17 metre long pool.

“Conveniently we live just a five minute drive away from West Hants, so it couldn't be better," says Paul Bladon. “The whole family were really pleased to hear of Lewis' success and we can't wait to get stuck in and join the gym, as well as get Lewis and his younger brother, Jake, going with some tennis lessons. The pool is a big draw too and I think we're going to be spending quite a bit of time here over the next 12 months! A massive thanks to Westover and West Hants for this fantastic prize."

Westover Group's second Motor Showcase was held at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 May and attracted nearly 4,500 people. It was held in the BIC's Solent and Windsor Halls, where over 150 of the newest cars currently available in the UK were on show.
