Buckholme Towers Parents Play Bond for the Night ... with a little help from Westover

Parents, staff and friends of Buckholme Towers School in Poole sported their finest outfits and took to the red carpet for a themed James Bond night – all in the name of a good cause. The event, held at the Haven Hotel in Sandbanks, raised a massive £2,600 and the funds have been split equally between two local children’s charities, Julia’s House and Victoria School.

To assist with the Bond theming, Westover Group supplied two vehicles featured in the latest Bond film, Spectre – the stunning Range Rover Sport and the super-sporty Jaguar F-Type. The cars flanked the hotel entrance, providing a fittingly glamorous start to the 007 evening.

Party-goers were treated to pre-dinner drinks (including vodka martinis, shaken not stirred), serenaded by pianist, Lee Hayter, and shown a James Bond movie montage to get them in the mood for a Bond night to remember. Alex Francis, a young local saxophonist, mesmerised guests with his playing and guests were treated to a delicious three course meal, followed by a raffle and auction. As a surprise, 10 lucky guests won a Wella Professional hairdryer, courtesy of Scissors Salon in Bournemouth.

To round up the evening, Casino Royale swept into the Haven Hotel - courtesy of Viva Las Vegas Fun Casino - raising yet more money for the chosen charities. Parent Andrew Large claimed the top prize, winning a James Bond Minion cake (donated by Sweet Serenity Cakes) and a large bottle of bubbly.

“It was a fun-packed evening, which raised a really healthy sum for two fantastic local charities,” says Charlie Wagstaff, Buckholme’s PTA coordinator. “We couldn’t have done it without the support of the local businesses that generously pitched in and we really appreciated the support of Westover in providing such amazing props!”

Julia’s House is the only children’s hospice charity in Dorset dedicated to helping life-limited children and their families, whilst Victoria School is a day and residential school offering specialised, high quality education, therapy and care to young people aged between three and 19 years.
