New Lotus Exige S causes a stir at Westover Sportscars!
The new Lotus Exige S V6 popped into Westover Sportscars on West Quay Road in Poole for a fleeting visit. The show car, which appeared at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier in the year, made only five stops on its whistle-stop tour.
Westover's demonstrator will be in the showroom in mid-February for anyone keen to get behind the wheel, with the first delivery expected in July 2012. More than 270 have already been sold in the UK, with buyers including Elise loyalists and owners new to the Lotus brand, switching from models like the Porsche 911 and Ferrari 458.
"Thanks to its light frame, this car is more cost-effective to run than many of its higher priced competitors because it's easy-going on tyres and brakes compared to its heavier rivals in spite of its super car performance," says Chris Amey, sales manager at Westover Sports Cars. "It generated a great deal of interest when it visited the dealership from both invited guests and passers-by - as do all Lotus launches. We're much looking forward to being able to take people out on test drives and to giving some of our established customers the chance to put it through its paces on one of our many track days. There's absolutely no doubt they'll be impressed by its stunning performance!"
Orders are already being taken - with four customers registering for one of the first models at Westover's preview event - and the first new Exige is expected to be on its owner's drive in March.
The new supercharged Lotus Exige is a high performance sports car which combines agility with unparalleled handling, thanks to a lightweight chassis and a 3.5 litre V6 supercharged engine (which has already proved itself on board the Evora). It's got a completely new look inside and out, as well as three driving modes and the choice to add a fourth ‘race' option, which provides additional traction in corners. It sprints from 0-60mph in just 3.8 seconds and boasts a top speed of 170mph.
