Luck of the Draw for Abarth Winner

LUCK OF THE DRAW SEES PETER BAG A BRAND NEW ABARTH FOR A FIVER

If someone told you they had a brand new car for just £5 you’d think they’d taken a blow to the head, but that’s exactly what happened to Peter Chen, who recently found himself the owner of an amazing Abarth 500 having spent just a fiver.

From Bournemouth, Peter was one of more than 5,000 people to purchase a £5 prize draw ticket to win the sporty car, made available in partnership with Westover Group, and the one lucky winner.

The draw was organised last year by Royal Bournemouth Hospital's Jigsaw Appeal which is currently aiming to raise £1.5 million to create a new Women’s Health Unit to reflect the five star treatment women receive at the hospital. The hospital aims to relocate the services into one site, redesign the layout to make patients’ experiences less stressful and create a lighter, brighter atmosphere. The new unit will offer more privacy, dignity and overall a transformed experience.

The Jigsaw Appeal was first launched in 2003 and has already successfully reached previous campaign targets which raised £2.5 million and funded five new life-saving scanners for the hospital's Radiology Department in 2006, while a further £2 million was subsequently raised and used to transform the facilities for the Haematology and Oncology Unit at the hospital in 2009.

The Royal Bournemouth Hospital's exciting 2011 and 2012 programme is currently underway, including another car prize draw in which the Westover Group will once again be involved. Further information on this will be available in the hospital’s Atrium later this year.

The Westover Group was also involved in making a similar road-going car available for a short time last summer for Jigsaw to attend the prestigious Bournemouth Air Festival and other promotional events.

Ian Catley, Fundraising Manager for the Jigsaw Appeal, said, “Westover Group’s partnership with us proves that our best local companies can work brilliantly well with a public appeal like Jigsaw, improving the lives of Women in Dorset and Hampshire for the benefit of every family”.

Westover SportsCars Sales Manager, Chris Amey, added: “We were delighted to work with the Jigsaw Appeal and to help them raise money for what is a really worthwhile cause that will benefit lots of local women.

“We’re fortunate to be one of just 10 sites authorised to sell Abarth models in the UK and they’ve been positively racing out of the showroom since the model’s launch two years ago. The Abarth 500 represents an economical alternative for people who are used to driving high performance sports cars but are keen to cut down on their motoring costs without making too great a compromise in the style and individuality stakes. It’s a great looking car – a bit of a style icon and it’s really fun to drive.”
