The teams at Westover Land Rover in Christchurch and Salisbury welcomed the All-New Land Rover Discovery to their showrooms for a sneak preview.
The Discovery made fleeting visits, staying for just 24 hours at each location, but was greeted by around 350 visitors who all came to the showrooms especially to get an early glimpse of Land Rover’s latest vehicle. Westover’s showrooms will both have demonstrator and showroom models permanently in the dealerships from April 2017.
Guests were able to have a good look at a Discovery TD6 HSE Luxury in Farallon Black. They also had a chance to trace history and compare the latest Discovery to an immaculate original, dating from 1989, which was also on display.
Delicious drinks and nibbles were provided throughout the two days of the Discovery’s visit by 10 Castle Street, a restaurant, bar and private members club based in Cranborne, Dorset.
“There’s no doubt that that the new Discovery was well received – feedback was exceptional and we took even more advance orders than we’d anticipated,” says Andy Grant, Westover Land Rover’s Brand Manager. “People were talking about the size of the car and its practicality. They liked the flexibility of the electronically controlled seating (which can be remotely configured) and the option to have seven full-sized seats, as well as the improved interior quality. The massive tow capacity of 3,500kg also drew a lot of favourable comments.
“We’ve got a lot of customers already eagerly awaiting the delivery of their new Discovery and we expect to see the first of the new models on the roads around Dorset and Wiltshire in April or May time. It’s definitely a car worth waiting for, of that we’re sure! Land Rover have pushed the boundaries of technology and innovation even further with this model, delivering a vehicle that’s outstandingly capable but feels luxurious too.”
A Land Rover through and through and equally comfortable on or off the road, the Discovery is equipped to take on any conditions. Its Terrain Response 2 system monitors driving conditions and automatically selects the best driving mode, whilst wade sensing technology will alert the driver if water approaches the car’s 900mm maximum wading capability. A whole host of driving, parking and towing aids are joined by a prestige interior and a state of the art Meridian audio system. Impressively, the new Discovery can be locked and accessed via a fully waterproof activity wristband, leaving the driver free to do as they wish without having to worry about stowing bulky keys.
There’s an impressive choice of fuel efficient petrol and diesel engines, ranging from a 2.0 Sd4 Ingenium diesel to a 3.0 Si6 petrol. With five different models across the range, the new Land Rover Discovery is priced from just £43,495.
