With this in mind, Land Rover's Design Director Gerry McGovern has led the Land Rover design team to explore a re-interpretation of the Defender. The aim is to capture the adventurous, indomitable spirit established by the Series 1 in 1948.
Land Rover was proud to debut the potential Defender of the future at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Land Rover DC100 Concept vehicle.
World-leading all-terrain technologies, hi-tech materials and cutting edge design come together to complement and enhance the original Defender's core functionality, capability and usability. It is a monumental development with sustainability at its core, and one that launches the Defender into the 21st century with a new world of possibilities.
However far this unique vehicle has come, its shape and stance would be instantly recognisable anywhere in the world - capturing the inherent simplicity and reassurance of the original short-wheelbase Land Rover. Created for the next generation, Land Rover's DC100 design undeniably demonstrates that it has the capability to take you places no other vehicle can.
