After a stunning debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011 and plenty of worldwide exposure, the brand new Land Rover DC100 Concept is scheduled for a UK-wide launch in 2015.
Designed as the potential next generation of the popular Defender, the concept version of the DC100 shares an elevated ground clearance and a shape that mimics the original Defender from 1948. An emphasis on function and practicality can be seen in the vehicle’s large wheels, wider seating positions and lengthened ‘nose’. The current version brings back the three-abreast seating style that’s been downplayed in other Land Rover models. It’s also rumoured that the manufacturer will offer more customisation and design options than ever before, from short and long wheelbase lengths to pick-ups and crew cabs. The style of the model is subject to change as Land Rover refines the DC100 from a concept into a road vehicle.
Land Rover intends for the new model to be their most technologically advanced, and will equip the DC100 with their unique Terrain Response handling system. The concept uses a supercharged V8 engine at present, which may be replaced as the manufacturer develops new versions.
