LRX CONCEPT

Land Rover has revealed an exciting vision of our future with the LRX concept at the Detroit Motor Show, January 2008.

Lighter, more compact and aerodynamic than any other Land Rover vehicle ever built, this three door cross-coupé combines environmentally focused technology with a bold evolution of Land Rover design.

The LRX concept also adopts intelligent power management systems first seen in the LAND-e concept, for example ERAD electric rear axle drive and is conceived as a hybrid 2-litre turbodiesel, with bio-diesel facility. This could offer fuel consumption of around 60mpg (UK gallon)/49.9mpg (US gallon)/4.701/100km and the potential to reduce CO2 emissions to approximately 120g/km.

Land Rover is jointly committed to investing £800m in sustainable technology over the next five years. Our plans for the future were initially embodied by the Land_e concept, from which the Stop-Start system for Freelander manual diesel is now planned for 2009.
