Sportage & Venga Awarded Top Safety Honour

Westover Kia is pleased to announce that two of Kia's newest vehicles - the Sportage and Venga - have been awarded the highest possible rating by leading independent European safety assessment organisation, Euro NCAP, making them two of the safest cars on the market this winter.

The Kia Sportage crossover and Venga MPV were both given the maximum five-star rating, placing them at the top of their respective classes and in the distinguished company of other Kia models such as the Soul, cee'd and Sorento. The Sportage and Venga also received praise for having Electronic Stability Control (ESC) fitted as standard.

Paul Griffiths, Brand Manager at Westover Kia said: "These awards prove to Dorset’s drivers that Kia engineers are designing vehicles to help drivers stay safe behind the wheel - thanks to their focus on factors like good visibility, powerful braking and excellent road holding.

“These things are all particularly important now that winter has well and truly set in and driving conditions have become riskier. Kia owners have peace of mind that they and their passengers are protected by some of the very best safety technology on the market.”

In the name of safety this winter, Westover Kia has five top driving tips for the region’s motorists:

  • Keep an emergency kit in the car (a torch, blanket, first aid kit, shovel and reflective warning sign are all sensible items to carry in adverse weather conditions.)
  • Make sure you have enough fuel for your journey (stopping and starting uses more fuel than an uninterrupted journey) and carry a fuel canister just in case.
  • Check weather reports before you set off anywhere – don’t risk it if you’re unsure about the conditions.
  • Be mindful of black ice – just because you can’t see any ice, doesn’t mean it’s not there.
  • Drive slowly and keep a sensible distance between you and the car in front to avoid bumps should you skid.

The Kia Venga is currently available at Westover under the Kia Switch Scheme, which brings a minimum £2,000 saving to anyone part exchanging a vehicle between seven and ten years old. There’s also a three year 0% finance offer until the end of the year.
