Number One Equestrian William Fox-Pitt Continues as Jeep Ambassador

Dorset-based former World and European Champion and Olympian eventer William Fox-Pitt has been renewed as a global Jeep ambassador for 2017.

The hugely popular equestrian, who has won 22 World, European and Olympic medals, perfectly illustrates Jeep’s “There’s Only One” message.

And with preparations already underway for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, William’s Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is proving useful at UK-based individual and team eventing meetings.

“This will be the sixth year we have worked with Jeep on a worldwide level and we are very lucky,” says William. “As far as the Olympics are concerned we work on a four-year cycle and that involves hard work, and a lot of travel.

“We go to many events during the year and the Grand Cherokee has to cope with operating in and out of fields for a week at a time. I always feel in the right vehicle for that kind of terrain but what I really like is the Jeep’s ability on the road too – especially motorways. It’s quick, nippy and easy to drive, and there’s a great feeling of safety, which I really appreciate.”

With 250 hp maximum power and 570 Nm of torque available from the 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine, the Jeep Grand Cherokee can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 8.2 seconds and has a top speed of 126 mph.

And with significantly lower emissions than its predecessor and fuel consumption of up to 40.3 mpg (combined), the new Grand Cherokee is a serious consideration for customers looking for a premium SUV.

Born in 1969, William Fox-Pitt started eventing aged 15. The first British rider to become eventing’s world number one, William has become one of the most successful event riders of all time. He has represented Great Britain consistently over the last 23 years, including the 2004 Athens, 2008 Beijing, 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics. He now has his sights set on 2020 and Tokyo.

“I’m looking forward to the next four years. My horse Chilli Morning is retiring and I have already identified a new horse for Tokyo. I’m focussing on making sure the next steps we take are good ones. It’s a great adventure and long journey ahead, but I’m delighted to be making it with Jeep.”

The Jeep Grand Cherokee range starts at £45,050 (OTR) for the 3.0 CRD V6 Limited Plus, rising to £69,865 (OTR) for the flagship 6.4 V8 HEMI SRT Night. To find out more, please contact Westover Jeep in Christchurch.
