Choose the new Hyundai IONIQ and you can take your pick from three different powertrains – Hybrid, Electric and Plug-in Hybrid.
It’s the first car in the world to offer you one stunning body shape with three exceptional power sources. The choice is yours - depending upon how often you drive, the average length of your journeys and your preferred driving style.
The IONIQ has been designed to be aerodynamic and sleek, so it performs well but it looks good too. Step inside and you’ll find a cabin that’s innovative, high tech and logical. There’s plenty of room for two adults in the back and boot space in spades, making it a perfect business or family car.

Opt for Hyundai’s modern hybrid engine and you’ll find a winning combination of performance, efficiency and low emissions – that’s thanks to the car’s electric motor (which kicks in to deliver immediate power) working in perfect harmony with a 1.6 GDi petrol engine (which seamlessly takes over when appropriate). The electric motor recharges on the move and a Dual Clutch Transmission delivers smooth automatic gear changes.
You can choose to drive the IONIQ Plug-in Hybrid in purely electric mode, bringing you up to 31 miles of emission free driving. For many of us, that would easily cover the daily commute or the school run. But let hybrid mode chip in and the 1.6 GDi petrol engine means you can drive as far as you like with no restrictions.
On a single charge the IONIQ will give you up to 174 miles of totally emission-free driving – and you won’t need to stop at a petrol station ever again! The electric IONIQ is powered by an efficient 28 kWh Lithium-Ion Polymer battery that’s located deep in the chassis. This lowers the car’s centre of gravity and provides optimum handling and responsiveness on the road.
The Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid and Electric will be available late 2016 and the Plug-in Hybrid will complete the collection in 2017. Prices start from £19,995.
Expect to see the new Hyundai Ioniq on a taxi rank near you soon! It's the first car in the world offering buyers the chance to choose between a hybrid, plug-in hybrid or fully electric power-train. Both hybrid models are now available to private hire companies and self employed taxi drivers with Hyundai's rock-solid five year (or 100,000 mile) commercial warranty and also bring company car tax benefits.
Not only stylish and responsive, the Ioniq also comes loaded with technology and, most importantly of all, is a comfortable place to be. There's masses of legroom front and back, plus a sizeable boot with plenty of space for airport bags. It spearheads the next generation of eco-friendly vehicles, charging faster than a smart phone, boasting a battery range of 124 miles and a maximum speed of 103mph.
Choose the hybrid version and you'll find an advanced electric motor delivering immediate acceleration, combined with a 1.6 GDi petrol engine which quietly and smoothly engages once the Ioniq reaches optimum speed. The electric motor recharges on the move, while a dual clutch transmission delivers smooth automatic gear changes. Go for the plug-in hybrid (which has the same petrol engine and recharging benefits as its sibling) and you can opt to drive in electric only mode, giving you up to 31 miles of emission-free driving.
